Friday night...

Well it didn't start off that great to be honest.   I can only presume it was a combination of the late night, lying in the sun all day and running but when I got back from said run I felt really rough for about an hour.  I then made the cardinal sin of riding my bike in shorts to this party.  I had taken my jeans with me to ride back in but when I got off Blackie to put her on her stand she let me know how stupid I was and burnt the outside of my right leg on the exhaust.  God it hurt, it took me about an hour with ice cubes before it cooled down and then it let me know it was there for about another hour, nice scar methinks.  The people from the club were very welcoming and I managed to speak to some other clubs but for some reason probably because I was mad at myself I wasn't as chatty, I think tonight will be better.  There was a band playing and they were ok, the food was very good, there was a huge stone oven with a fire and about three or four really long spits with chicken and lamb cooking. I took a picture with my phone so hopefully you can see it.

They were doing some crazy things but nothing too bad, driving a car with no roof and not much else.  This was used to ferry people from the gate to the party area in the middle of a wood.  They rent the land for two days for this party.  It is fenced and the gate is manned by about 6 of the club.  When I arrived I was given a wrist band, presumably so people knew I was a visiting biker as opposed to a member of a club, and a drink whisky, I think!  They also had an engine in a trailer which they fixed part of an exhaust and then they revved it to very high temperatures.  I recorded it on my phone but I am struggling to upload it but here is a photo of it.  Not very exciting but different.

I saw an Africa twin covered in stickers from all over the world and apparently the bike belongs to an Englishman in his sixties who has been travelling around the world for twelve years, so if it is still there tonight I will try and find him and have a chat.  I chatted to a lad at the gate who didn't have all the badges on his leather waistcoat and he said he his a 'prospect' for a year. He has to show that he is committed to the club  He can then wear the badge on the back also.  He told me about the rideout today.  It is about 4.30 pm and goes to the capital of Brac, Supetar.  On the way back they stop a village called Nerezisca and that is where the free food is.  I stayed until about midnight and then rode back to Bol and when I parked up I bumped into the three Hells Angels outside the bar.  I managed to buy them a drink and then it was the same as the night before, with me unable to spend any money.  One of them asked me where I was going to next and when I told him Zagreb he gave me his number and the address of their clubhouse and said that they are having a meeting on Tuesday and if I want to go to ring him and he will clear it with the others.  I think I will go as it isn't everyday I get invited to visit such a place.  I will try and remember as much as I can for the blog.

Its just after half one so I am going to chill for a bit before the rideout.  I have received texts from some of you who cannot get your comments on the site.  No worries and thanks for your texts I'm glad you are enjoying the blog so keep them coming please.

All the best

Robert

  1. Hi Rob, You must not ride your bike in shorts - remember ALL the gear, ALL the time. However, you can say it is a scar from a Hells Angel initiation ceremony - perhaps IT IS a Hells Angel initiation ceremony to see how long you can keep a bare leg on the exhaust. Perhaps that is what the red hot exhaust was all about. You passed because you are now meeting up with them in Zagreb! Result! Take the rest of the day off. Power to the people! Luv Mystic Meg. xxx
