It must have been around February 2010 that I went, as is my norm, to see my mate Nick at his house for a brew. We were due to be going to France in July touring for a week on our Honda Blackbirds but I was bored. 'Just a thought ..... but I fancy an adventure mate how about going for a really long trip somewhere in say 2012?' Nick as ever was up for this but when I suggested riding across Africa I was met with a definite NO!! I understood really as Nick doesn't really like it that hot so in the end after many cups of tea and looking at Google maps we decided to ride across Europe for six weeks: provided we could get the time off work. Surprisingly that bit went really smoothly and we were actually able to take the leave for 2011 so within a few days it was decided that we would try and ride through 25 countries in 42 days. The next important thing to sort out was getting off the island. Typical our ideal date for travelling fell on Friday 10th June; only Senior Race day of the TT. We had to provisionally book our ferry to England over a year in advance just to guarantee we would be able to sail!!
Other than that we would wait to sort out details until after the French trip.
